b bell

The b bells were not as successful as I had hoped.  The transposition of the letter happened for most of the children in the class, and the idea of a ringing bell wasn't something that was part of their reality.  For next time around I'm thinking of doing a /b/ with bat wings.

E is for Elephant

Our E Elephants were not as big of a hit as the other letters so far. The kiddos didn't find it interesting. I think perhaps it might be the color choice? Ideas for future use: read Elmer stories and do a patchwork E Elephant instead. This way I can use the same templates and have the kids to torn or cut paper squares into the elephant.

O Octopus

The kiddos in my class are used to seeing octopus tentacles being grilled on skewers in the market stalls, but making a crafty one wasn't too much of a stretch! I'm happy to report that as a class that data for letter recognition and phonetic sounds has jumped up greatly since I launched the letter collages.
